Bag of Bones
Every time I open my eyes
You – the monster are there
Banging at the wall of shame
That I hide behind in fear.
I’m a scared little girl
Praying for someone to save me
From you – the monster
No one ever comes and you continue
To take more from me than even I can see.
To take it back
Seems more difficult than one can imagine
It’s not just cracks to cover
But memories to give back to
You- the monster
I can no longer carry the weight of the stones
That have been laid upon my shoulders
My light from within now radiates from the cracks
Take back your stones
You – just a bag of bones.
